BIOGRAPHY
Pragnya P. Prusty is a doctoral student working with Dr. Rachael Seidler in the department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology. Specifically, she is investigating long-term structural and functional changes to the eye and brain after spaceflight as well as the effects of spaceflight and its analog on sensorimotor adaptation and neurocognitive behavior, determining if long-duration spaceflight contributes to changes in the eye, sensorimotor function, and brain health later in life. Her focus areas are cognition, vestibular science, neurology, neuropsychology, ophthalmology, and neuroimaging. Before continuing her studies at the University of Florida, Pragnya received her Bachelor's in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. She worked on the Vestibular Rehabilitation of Astronaut Candidates and Brain in Space Project with UK Space Labs during her studies. She then continued to pursue her Master of Science in Psychology with a focus on the psychophysiological stress profile of astronaut candidates. She worked as a clinical researcher at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO); during her time there she worked on areas like Space Adaptation Syndrome (SAS), and Correlation of Video-oculographic Measures and Sensorimotor Function. Outside of the lab, Pragnya enjoys trekking, classical dance, graphic design, and singing. |
