The Team
Our project, Boosting Spaceflight Underrepresented Researcher Equity (BSURE), was selected in June 2021 by the Translational Research Institution of Space Health (TRISH) for the Institute's first diversity focused solicitation. Our University of Florida team is partnered with Texas A&M University to survey the space health research field and build a database of underrepresented researchers. You can learn more about the TRISH Diversity Program in this article by Baylor College of Medicine and meet our BSURE team below.
The Mission
Over the past year, we have recruited 40+ underrepresented researchers in the space health field as mentees and 50+ established researchers as mentors. Our goal is to connect mentees to mentors and help mentees navigate the space health research field. The BSURE program has hosted a workshop, multiple networking events at research conferences, and webinars to strive towards this goal. See outcomes so far and feedback from mentees about the programming below!
The Future of BSURE
Updates about BSURE involvement opportunities will be posted here! We have our second workshop coming this summer 2023.
We are collaborating with TRISH to host a database of mentors and mentees in the space health research field. Check back on this page in Fall 2023 for more information about accessing and joining the database!
